Built for Macs full of Xcode builds, node_modules and local AI models. Every item tells you what it is and whether it comes back. What you clear goes to the Trash, with Undo.
Built for a Mac full of builds and models. Thirteen checks in four groups, shown with example findings.
5 checks
Space you can get back
Build folders, tool caches, old downloads and apps you don’t open.
App and browser cachesrebuilt on their ownSafe to clear
Xcode build filesmade again on the next buildSafe to clear
Downloads over a year oldonly you know if you need themYour call
The 5 checks
Caches and logs. Temporary files apps make again on their own.
Developer tools. Xcode, Homebrew, npm and other tool caches. Docker is shown, never touched.
Projects. Folders a code project’s own tools rebuild, like node_modules. Your code is never touched.
Large and old files. Big files, old downloads and iPhone backups. Always your call.
Apps. Apps you don’t open, and the files they leave behind.
2 checks
AI on your Mac
Local models taking space, and what your AI tools can reach.
Llama 3.1 8Blast used 3 weeks ago · 10 min to download againYour call

The 2 checks
AI models. Hugging Face, Ollama, LM Studio and MLX, with how long each takes to download again. A model in use is never moved.
Agents. MCP servers, AI tool permissions and local AI servers, in plain words. DiskBlob only reads their settings.
4 checks
Security and privacy
Your Mac’s protections, what starts with it, and secrets left in plain files.

An AWS key in a plain filewhere it is, never the valueReview
The 4 checks
Security. Gatekeeper, FileVault, the firewall, updates and startup items. Four optional fixes, each asks first.
Secrets. Where keys and tokens sit in plain files, and whether Git tracks them. Never the value.
Privacy. A shortcut to System Settings, which lists every app allowed to use your camera, microphone and files. DiskBlob doesn’t list them itself.
Login items. What starts with your Mac. Switching one off can be undone.

The 2 checks
Memory and processor. What is using them, with a polite Quit for apps you choose. Never a force quit.
Battery. Health, charge cycles and Low Power Mode.
Safety
Everything you clear can come back. Six rules, enforced in code.
Every item passes the same checks before anything moves, and each rule is covered by tests. Open one for the details.
Safety gateExample
✓~/Library/Caches/Homebrewallowed · moved to Trash
✕~/Documents/Taxesprotected folder
✕~/Dropbox/Projectscloud-synced: would delete everywhere
✕~/code/api/.gitGit repository
✕/Applications/Safari.appApple app
✕~/Library/Caches/link → ~/Desktopsymbolic link
Five refused, one allowed. Nothing moves until every item passes.
Never deletesEverything goes to the Trash. DiskBlob never empties it.
Moving to the Trash is the only destructive action. DiskBlob runs as you. Four optional fixes ask macOS for your password, each time, and DiskBlob never sees it. Space comes back only when you empty the Trash yourself.
You confirm every moveA native sheet lists every item before it moves.
It shows each item, its size and where it goes. The page can't answer it for you, and Return never confirms. Over 50 GB, you type “move” to go ahead.
Protected foldersYour documents, photos and synced folders are off limits.
Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Music, Movies, Photos, Mail, Messages, iCloud Drive, Keychains and cloud-synced folders such as Dropbox and Google Drive: moving a file out of one deletes it everywhere it syncs. Also never anything owned by another user, a Git repository, a running app or an Apple app.
Checked before anything movesThe whole batch passes the gate first.
If one item is refused, nothing moves. If something fails midway, it stops and tells you exactly what moved. More than 20,000 items in one go is refused.
Undo until you quitEvery move is logged and can be put back.
Use the Undo button or Edit → Undo Last Move to Trash until you quit DiskBlob. After that, drag items back out of the Trash: the result screen lists the folders they came from.
No false all-clearA check that didn't run says so.
If a scan fails or macOS gives no answer, you see “Couldn't be checked”. A partial scan lists its limits, so it never reads as a clean one.

Privacy
Your files never leave your Mac. Nothing to sign in to, nothing sent.
No accountNothing to sign up for or sign in to.
DiskBlob works the moment it opens. There is no account, no email and no licence server in the app.
No telemetryNo usage data, crash data or analytics.
Nothing about your Mac, your files or how you use the app is collected or sent anywhere.
No network codeThe app itself never goes online.
The one thing that reaches the network is the optional Install updates fix: it asks macOS to contact Apple, and only when you press it.
Your password stays with macOSAdmin fixes use macOS's own prompt.
Four optional fixes (firewall, updates, Low Power Mode, broken startup items) need an administrator. macOS asks for the password every time, and DiskBlob never sees it.
Full Disk Access, granted by youSo it can read what macOS protects.
Many caches, logs and app files live in protected places. You grant access once in System Settings and can turn it off there any time. Without it, DiskBlob checks what it can reach and lists the rest.
Watching is off by defaultBackground checks only if you turn them on.
When on, its history keeps sizes and counts, never a path or a name, and its notifications stay on your Mac.

Questions
Which Macs does it support?
Macs with Apple silicon, running macOS 26 or later. Intel Macs aren't supported.
Does it delete my files?
No. It moves items to the Trash, after you confirm in a sheet that lists every one, and it never empties the Trash.
Can I undo a clean-up?
Yes. Undo is offered right after a move, and in the Edit menu until you quit DiskBlob. After that the items are still in the Trash: drag them back out to where they came from until you empty it. DiskBlob lists those folders on its result screen, because the Trash shows names only.
Why does it want Full Disk Access?
Many caches, logs and app files live in places macOS protects. You grant it once. Without it, DiskBlob still scans what it can reach and lists what it couldn't under "Limits of this check", so a partial scan never reads as a clean one.
Why didn't my disk space grow right away?
Items in the Trash still occupy space until the Trash is emptied. DiskBlob leaves that to you on purpose.
Is it antivirus?
No. DiskBlob doesn't scan for malware. It reports your security settings and startup items in plain language, and it tells you when it couldn't check something.
